I'm a software architect and engineering leader from Christchurch, New Zealand. I have a wide range of skills and experience - leading distributed teams, building high-performance applications for the browser, designing scalable cloud architecture, and collaborating across disciplines.
I'm an expert with many tools and languages - Postgres, DynamoDB, Typescript, React are some of my favourites - and I excel at diving deep into a problem up front, capturing details and edge cases, and scoping out a proposed solution for review and collaboration with my teams.
I'm passionate about the discipline of software engineering, and I pride myself on my written and verbal communication, and my ability to understand complex system architectures.
I have a BE (hons) from the University of Canterbury and nearly two decade's experience in the industry.
In my previous life as a web developer and freelance software engineer, I lead the development of numerous award-winning websites, with three of my projects winning the coveted purple pin for best in interactive at the New Zealand Design Institute's annual Best Awards. I also built a time tracking application, a bakery management app, and the backend for an agtech startup, among other projects.
You can find me on LinkedIn, and my open source work on Github. I also occasionally answer questions on Stack Overflow, and don't tweet much.
